Hawthorne's Memorial Rose Garden

Remembering Family and Friends in a Garden Setting

The small town of Hawthorne Nevada, located within the Great Basin Desert, USA, has a special treasure which happens to be the largest memorial rose garden in the state.

With an elevation of 4255 feet (1296.92 meters) and surrounded by mountain ranges, Hawthorne has a mild climate that allows the roses to bloom in profusion.

The Memorial Rose Garden was developed in 1963 and today has over 900 different species of roses that are grown in memory of family or friends.

The Memorial Rose Garden is maintained by volunteers from the local community and funded through public donations.

Located on First and A Street, by the Mineral County Public Library and close to Mount Grant General Hospital, the rose garden invites one come and relax or meditate while enjoying the serenity of nature.

What an exciting and interesting photo-adventure this day has been.  I love it when I am drawn to an area and not knowing what to expect I get treated to new experiences.

Photography places me in the moment where I can share that moment in time. It becomes a life story as represented by my interaction with the scene. The happiness and beauty or the sorrow and strife; how I focus leaves a lasting impression that might touch the viewer on a spiritual level.
